The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 has was officially announced in 10th July, 2024. It was released alongside Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. Pre Orders began in 19 July,2024 and the devices were made available in 24 July 2024. It will land in Kenya in 2024. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 succeeds the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 as the top new Galaxy flagship.  Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is available at Firstfront Kenya at Ksh.99,000 (EAST AFRICA) for the 256GB and Ksh.101,500 for the 256GB (DUBAI)

The Galaxy Flip 6 has the main foldable screen is a 6.7-inch OLED main display with a smooth adaptive 120Hz refresh rate and an FHD+ resolution. It features a much larger 3.4-inch cover screen compared to its predecessor, the Flip 5. It also introduces a new waterdrop hinge design to minimize the gap when folded

Running things inside the Galaxy Flip 6 is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy. This is the chip that the Galaxy S23 series offered earlier in the year. The Galaxy Flip 6’s photography kit is the same as we saw on the Galaxy Z Flip 4: a 50MP main camera and a 12MP ultrawide camera on the back, with a 10MP selfie camera on the inside.

A teardrop style hinge that will ensure both sides of display close flat when folded and reduce appearance of display crease; a prototype called Flex In & Out that can fold both inwardly and outwardly could show up on it as well.

Design

Display

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 display provided an impressive performance for its High-end segment.

The device’s screen measured a peak brightness under sunlight conditions of 1638 nits, considerably higher than advertised, and well above its predecessor Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 1200 nits. The peak brightness approached the peak level of Samsung’s premium Galaxy S24 model, which was measured at 1200 nits. The main panels has a 1,080×2,640px resolution in a 22:9 aspect ratio.

The Galaxy Z Flip6’s display setup is pretty much unchanged, coming from the previous generation. On the inside, there’s a 6.7-inch panel that bends in half, and on the cover you’ll find a notched 3.4-inch screen for simpler tasks. Both are OLEDs.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 runs on the latest Android 14 out of the box with Samsung’s own One UI 6.1.1.

Last year’s Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 is powered by the Qualcomm SM8650-AC Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset based on the 4nm manufacturing process.

The new Qualcomm SM8650-AC Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (4 nm) features the same 3x Cortex-X4 and 3x Cortex-A720, but the main four cores are clocked higher this time around. The cluster of four Cortex-A710 cores ticks at 1GHz, while the Cortex-A510 cluster remains at 2.0 GHz. The Mali-G88 MP5 GPU, however, has been replaced by the Adreno 740 GPU

Battery and Storage

The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 uses the same 4,000 mAh battery as its predecessors, but it’s running a new Qualcomm SM8650-AC Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 (4 nm) chipset, which promises improved efficiency.

The charging speed has stayed the same as the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 still relies on the 25W wired, QC2 which isn’t very competitive in its price bracket. It takes about 1 hour and 3 minutes to complete a full charging cycle, while a 30-minute charge would only bring the battery to 50%.
